20 Home Products Definitely You Need Now That You’re Spending More Time at Home

Some home purchases on Amazon are total impulse buys that you may grow to regret later, but not these. These are 20 of my tried and true, I absolutely love them and I would repurchase every single one, home favorites on Amazon. Whenever friends of mine are getting married or buying their first home, these are the items I recommend. I hate the hassle of returning items (possibly more than I hate clutter — it’s a close one). So I never will recommend anything that I don’t absolutely love myself.

Let’s jump in!

FOR THE BEDROOM

Dreamegg Sound Machine – Sound machines aren’t just beneficial for babies and little kids. You truly do sleep more deeply and soundly! This one has a built-in timer, or you can keep it on continuously. We like to use the white noise function, but there’s also nature, fans, and more available. I’ve noticed a huge difference in our sleep quality since we started using this thing.

Sweetnight Breeze Memory Foam Mattress – Doing the whole mattress in a box thing is a bit scary. After doing a ton of research because I was starting to wake up with lower back pain from our last mattress. I found this one was highly recommended for being firm and supportive, but still super comfortable (not to mention affordable). We bought ours about a year and a half ago, and it feels amazing. You spend nearly half of your life in bed, so it was so important to us to find a mattress that was affordable but also something we loved. When we eventually update the mattress in our guest room, we will 100% be repurchasing this one!

Satin Pillowcase – Silk and satin pillowcases are an amazing investment for your skin and hair (cotton ones can tug on your face and hair, and potentially be a cause for breakouts — see my post on How I Got Rid of My Cystic Acne here). These are super affordable, and they feel great on the face.

All Season Down Alternative Comforter – My goal for the master bedroom was to have a bed that you would never want to leave. Down comforters can get soooo expensive, so if you don’t have the budget for one, a down alternative is still a great option. In our guest room we have this one. I always get one size bigger than the bed when I’m purchasing a comforter so it looks a bit more luxe.

Bamboo Cooling Mattress Cover – This is a must if you or your spouse are hot sleepers — I have recommended it to all of my newlywed friends for their homes. When we upgraded to a king size bed, this was the first repurchase we made. It’s a typical mattress cover to protect your investment, but it’s also infused with bamboo to keep you cool all night long.

Velvet Non-Slip Hangers – One way to make a drastic impact and pull together your closet is to use one type of hanger. These are amazing value, but they’re also velvet, so they’re non-slip. For more tips on creating a custom closet, check out our post on How to Create a Custom IKEA Closet here.

Stackable Shoe Organizers – Another life-saving home item that helps you keep your closet organized and clutter-free (check out our full closet makeover post here)!

Side note: make sure you double check the max shoe size that can fit in each box to ensure your shoes will all fit. I believe the medium can fit up to a men’s 8.5.

FOR THE BATHROOM

Waterpik Water Flosser – #obsessed. This thing is amazing — it’s approved by the American Dental Association, and it’s SO effective at removing food or plaque that may have become built up between your teeth. There’s multiple settings (in case your gums are a bit more sensitive) and different tops that snap into place so you can keep your smile fresh and clean between visits to the dentist!

Bath Overflow Drain Cover – If you’re a bath person, trust me when I say you need this in your life. It’s like 6 bucks, and it covers any of the potential overflow drains that your bath may have. There’s still a hole at the very top in case you drew a little too full of a bath so nothing spills onto the floor, but it gives you those last few inches to sink down into. It’s such a small thing, but I’ve been thankful for it every time I take a bath.

FOR THE KITCHEN

Swissmar Fondue Set – Fondue nights with friends are the best, and this is an awesome gift to give someone. I got this set for Joseph for his birthday after I took him to Yebo Ski Haus in Atlanta and introduced him to fondue. (If you’re from Atlanta or visiting, I HIGHLY recommend visiting Yebo — it becomes a Beach Haus for spring/summer, though Ski Haus has always been my favorite) There are so many different recipes you can test out, chocolate or cheese. (In addition to the set, you will need fire gel, we use this one)

Pantry Storage Containers – Don’t get me wrong, having a Pinterest worthy pantry is great, but it’s pointless if your home isn’t functional and the containers and bins don’t keep you organized in the long run! I built our pantry from the ground up, and I have to say I’m a huge fan of these clear bins. You can also use them in the fridge and freezer (which we do).

If you’d like to see how we built a completely custom pantry (and what we used to organize it!), check out our How to Build a Custom Pantry post here.

Black + Decker Waffle Maker – I’m personally not a fan of having tons of kitchen equipment. But a Belgian waffle maker is one of my exceptions — particularly one that rotates so it comes out nice and fluffy. Personally, I use almond flour pancake and waffle mix for mine, but this thing pops out a perfect waffle every time!

FOR HOME IMPROVEMENT / CLEANING SUPPLIES

Hilife Steamer – This little steamer is AMAZING. It’s perfect for travel or if you need to do a quick steam on clothes that easily crease. I also use it to steam out wrinkles in bed linen or our guest bedroom duvet. It’s such a good size and it holds quite a bit of water so you won’t need to constantly refill it.

Tibbers Bidet – Everybody laughed when I bought my husband a bidet for Christmas last year… until the pandemic happened and then everyone was commenting about how lucky we were that our toilet paper was going to last us three times longer than everyone else’s. It’s so easy to use a bidet — and the bonus is that you buy less toilet paper (which is better for the environment too)! It only took 5 minutes to install, and it’s self-cleaning.

Amber Spray Bottles – I recently made the switch to natural cleaning products (check out my DIY Natural All Purpose Cleaner recipe post here) and these glass spray bottles are incredible. The weight is nice, and it comes with two 16 oz. bottles, which is perfect if you purchase any bulk natural cleaner concentrates. These are also great to use to give laundry a refresh with a water / essential oil blend.

Germ Guardian Air Purifier – We purchased this air purifier at the start of the pandemic, and I’ve been so impressed with it that we carry it throughout the house because we can tell the difference when it’s in use. It eliminates germs, filters the air for allergies, pollen, smoke, dust, pet dander, and mold. It also uses an HEPA filter.

Kasa Smart Outlet – Whether you’re in different phases of having a “smart home,” these outlets are such a good investment. Personally, I’m not a fan of the idea of replacing every outlet in the house with a smart one, so these are reserved for our bedside lamps and any spots where we may say “Alexa, turn on…” (there’s also an app so you can control it from your phone as well).

*Tip: If you’re renting or don’t want to change your outlet out, you can also get these as simple plugs here.

iRobot Roomba – All I can say about this beautiful smart piece of technology is YAAASSSS. Rosie (what we named our Roomba — like Rosie the Riveter, cause this girl works hard since we have a fluffy doggo) is probably our most used piece of tech in our house. We do a deeper clean about once a week with our regular vacuum in our high traffic areas of the house, but we turn Rosie on every other day to keep everything clean and fur/leaf/crumb-free.

Ring Doorbell – Ring was the first purchase we made after we got the keys to our first ever house. We have the full Ring system (here’s the security system) and professional monitoring, which has been so convenient and affordable. The doorbell has sensors that span across our entire yard and it creates a video any time someone visits. We’re able to speak to someone directly through the camera if we’re not home, and there’s a community within the app where you can share videos with your neighbors. (Personally, my favorite thing is saying hi to my husband when he takes the doggo out for her walk)

Grampa’s Weeder – I NEVER thought I would ever be telling people to run out and get a weeder, but here we are. This thing is flipping brilliant. It’s SO easy to use. We get some huge weeds in our yard, and this thing easily pulls up the entire weed without having to yank or have the weed break at the roots.

Phew — that’s it for now! Do you have any Amazon products you absolutely love that would be perfect for newlyweds or someone buying their first home? Leave them in a comment down below!

Much love,

Jenn
